Naughty and Troublesome[]

Naughty and Troublesome are a pair of named Troublesome Trucks. They were created by the Ertl Company for the ERTL Die-cast range and Gold Rail. Their names were first revealed on the ERTL collector character cards. Their Bachmann models in all three scales refer to them as "Troublesome Truck #2" and "Troublesome Truck #1", respectively.

Personality[]

Naughty and Troublesome are noisy and silly trucks that talk a lot and do not pay attention to what they are doing. Whoever gets stuck pulling Naughty and Troublesome are in for a dose of trouble.

Rickety[]

Rickety is a merchandise-exclusive character created by Learning Curve for the Wooden Railway range. He is a teal troublesome truck who can rock up and down as he moves.

Personality[]

Rickety is described as a truck who takes great pleasure in causing trouble, much like any other Troublesome Truck. He is unique for his "rickety" motion, hence his name.

Rickety is based on the 8-plank open wagon. The Railway Series character Fred Pelham and the magazine story character Old Bennett share the same basis.

Livery[]

Rickety is painted in a teal livery with white lining. Rickety has also been painted in various other liveries including orange with white lining, grey with white lining and dark green with black lining and yellow lettering reading "Mr. Jolly's Chocolate Factory".

Trivia[]

  • The prototype Rickety had a paler teal livery, no front details, a plastic black base and no eyebrows.
  • Learning Curve gave Rickety his name, which was first used as a description for his special feature, but later became used as a name for the truck.
  • Rickety from the 2013 Gold Mine Mountain Set was redesigned with a CGI style face.
  • The first prototype Troublesome Trucks and Sweets depicted Rickety as Mr. Jolly's Chocolate Factory Troublesome Truck.
  • Bachmann intended to release a HO scale model of Rickety in 2005, however, it was cancelled.
  • Rickety has also been featured at Day Out with Thomas events.

JNR 5000 series Open Wagons[]


JNR 5000 series Open Wagons are merchandise-exclusive rolling stock created by Tomy for the Motor Road and Rail (Later TrackMaster) and Capsule Plarail ranges.

Personality[]

Sentient trucks fall under the category of Troublesome Trucks.

These trucks are based on the JNR 5000 series Open Wagons These wagons were designed and built to run on metre gauge rails, whereas the trucks in the Merchandise appear to be standard gauge with some being released with narrow gauge characters.

Livery[]

In the Merchandising ranges, the JNR 5000 trucks are painted in different liveries, such as:

  • Shades of grey.
  • Shades of orange.
  • Shades of green.
  • Shades of yellow.
  • Shades of blue, sometimes with yellow wheels.
  • Shades of red.
  • Shades of brown, sometimes with white framework and red wheels.

Recycling Truck[]

There is an unnamed, merchandise-exclusive recycling truck who is painted green and was created by Learning Curve for the Wooden Railway range.

The recycling truck is painted in a dark green livery with white lining, with a black rectangle on the side containing a yellow recycling symbol and the words 'SODOR RECYCLING' written in yellow.

Recycling Cars: All of the engines on the Island of Sodor know how important it is to recycle. These recycling cars make it possible for Thomas and his friends to transport glass, paper and aluminum to recycling facilities on the island of Sodor.

Lorry 4[]

Lorry 4 is a dark blue lorry who appeared in the Round the Rails board game. He is the fourth brother of The Horrid Lorries.

The lorry is based on Foden OG range lorries, which were once a common sight around railways.

Lorry 4 is painted dark blue with a black lining. Each lorry is painted a different colour to help the players to distinguish between them.

Lorry 4: The Lorry has a bad attitude toward the engines and threatens to take their work away from them. He is rude and aggressive, but finds out that some jobs on the Island are best left to the engines.


Mr. Jolly's Chocolate Factory's Coach[]

A blue passenger coach was planned to be released for the Thomas Wood range. The coach is depicted with a moustache and is owned by Mr. Jolly's Chocolate Factory. He helps transport pastry across the Island.

The coach is based on an LB&SCR Stroudley coach.

Livery[]

The coach is painted blue with a light blue window surrounds and has Mr. Jolly's logo on either side.

Pastry Cars: These Pop-Up Pastry Cars are designed to inspire children's imaginations, so they can create endless stories about Mr. Jolly and the delicious sweets he sells from his mobile concessions coach. Kids can seat the poseable Mr. Jolly figure in the coach, or raise the roof on the second car so he can stand, just like a vendor in a food truck!

  • Had it been released, it would have been the only Wooden Railway Character to have a face not based on the television series besides the Recycling Cars.
  • His face is based on Henrietta's with thick eyebrows and a moustache added to disguise it.

Pink Narrow Gauge Coaches[]

A pink narrow gauge coach was created for the Capsule Plarail range to feature in a set focused on female characters.

TeleStory Engines[]

These engines make a cameo appearance in the first scene of Thomas Visits the Toy Shop. Two unknown engines (a red one that resembles Henry and a dark blue one that resembles Thomas, respectively) appear on the bridge above Thomas. Some grey coaches with window surroundings resembling Annie and Clarabel also appear.

Due to being a recolour of Henry, the red tender engine is based on a London, Midland & Scottish Railway's "Black Five". The dark blue tank engine is based on an LB&SCR Class E2 0-6-0T, like Thomas. Finally, the coaches are based on LB&SCR four-wheeled coaches like Annie and Clarabel.

'Arry and Bert's Triplet[]


A third diesel accompanying 'Arry and Bert appears as a non-playable character in the 2006 video game, Right on Time. The three diesels are runaways, so the player has to capture them and send them to the engine depot. They do not have the words "Sodor Ironworks" on their sides.

This diesel is based on a British Rail (BR) Class 08 diesel-electric shunter, like 'Arry and Bert.

This diesel is painted green-grey with yellow hazard stripes on the front and with a yellow cab, like 'Arry and Bert.

John[]


John is a saddle tank engine, who resembles Percy. He was an example of the "Design Your Own Engine" game featured on the Official Website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram social media pages.
