"They run on bogies as sweetly as any coach!"
— Mike, Ballast, Small Railway Engines

Arlesdale Railway Trucks

7-plank Open Wagons

The Arlesdale Railway Trucks are hopper trucks that run on bogies. The Small Engines take them to the old mines of the Mid Sodor Railway, fill them up and take them to the chute, where Duck and the other engines take the ballast for their railway. Mike is the only known engine on the Arlesdale Railway to actually like trucks, as he prefers them over passenger trains.

In the television series, the railway owns two different types of trucks: the ballast hoppers, and scaled down 7-plank open wagons used for carrying wool.

Rex, Mike and Bert used them to stop Sailor John when he was taking the pirate ship.

The Arlesdale Railway trucks are painted brown with white lettering. The 7-plank open wagons are painted light coral pink.

The Arlesdale Railway Ballast Hoppers are based on trucks of the same type and purpose used on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. The wool trucks are based off of BR 8 plank open wagons, scaled down accordingly.
