“I think that's the best statue there could ever be!”
― Thomas

Thomas and the Statue is a magazine story, illustrated using photographs from the television series.

Plot[]

One chilly day, the Fat Controller comes to the sheds to tell his engines that a statue celebrating the railway is to be put in the park and Thomas is to collect it from Brendam Docks.

When Thomas arrives at the docks, Thomas sees that the statue is shaped like an engine and thinks it might be of him. Thomas cannot wait to tell the other engines. The engines are not as excited as Thomas tells them all about his statue and they seem rather annoyed.

Thomas realises that no-one wants to talk to him because he has been showing off. To put things right, Thomas offers to clear the tracks to the park so that the other engines can attend the statue's unveiling.

Thanks to Thomas, all of the engines can get to the park in time for the ceremony. They all gather near the statue, still a bit cross with Thomas. Finally, the statue is uncovered and it is not a statue of Thomas at all; it's all of the engines. Thomas agrees that it is the best statue there could be.
