“I look silly in pink!”
― James

Tickled Pink is a magazine story illustrated using photographs from the CGI television series.

Plot

One day the Fat Controller sends James to the Sodor Steamworks for a new coat of paint. At the Steamworks, James has all his old paint scraped off and a pink undercoat is applied. Before the workmen have a chance to apply the shiny red coat, the Fat Controller orders James to pick up some children for his granddaughter's birthday party.

Steaming along, James worries that the other engines may laugh at him for being pink and decides that he must hide whenever he meets another engine. He hides underneath a tree whilst Toby trundles past, then behind a line of trucks from Diesel and finally he hides in a tunnel to avoid Gordon. But Gordon needs to go through the tunnel and James is forced to emerge. Gordon laughs, but James has other things on his mind - he is running late!

He hurries past Henry and Spencer who stare in amazement, but James no longer cares. Finally he pulls into Maithwaite where Bridget is waiting with her friends, who are all wearing pink. They explain that pink is their favourite colour and James is so happy that he blushes a lovely shade of pink!
