Now when I FINALLY got the new Railway Series book Thomas and his Friends, I'm gonna tell you what I think of it.
Thomas and the Swan
I think this story was a little boring. It was only about finding an injured swan and taking it to a vet, but when you think about how bad the TV episodes are, this story is suddenly great!
The illustrations were great. The story wasn't bad, but not so good either. 5/10.
Buffer Bashing
This story was more entertaining. I love it when there are crashes in these books, because it's being illustrated so great.
I think the last crash was best, and I chuckled a bit when Douglas got red paint on his nose!
Good story. 9/10.
Gordon's Fire Service
Another great story! I was really excited about reading this story, because I thought it would be really good, and it was.
The only thing I didn't like was Gordon's new personality. He seemed, I don't know, older and wiser or something. I thought Gordon would get mad when he heard that Pip and Emma was to be the express, but he actually thought it was a good idea. Weird.
Really entertaining story. 8/10.
Centenary
This story is clearly the best of all, and the main story of this book. Celebrating the Rev. W. Awdry's 100th birthday was a really good plot. I really liked how Percy thought that when there was to be a bust of the Thin Clergyman, he thought that the man was broken! I chuckled at that.
A really good story, the illustrations were great, and the best story of the whole book. 10/10.
Overall review
This book is clearly not the best of the series. I think we all can say for sure that Christopher Awdry is running out of ideas, and I can understand that. He has written many books. But what I don't understand is why this book was called "Thomas and his Friends"! It doesn't suit at all!
Overall, I'm giving this book a 7/10. It was only Thomas and the Swan I didn't like that much. If that story was a little better, the book would get an 8.
My top 4:
- Centenary
- Buffer Bashing
- Gordon's Fire Service
- Thomas and the Swan
